Let me tell you how I feel about this. Porn, Prostitution both are mostly banned in India. But does it stop people from availing the services rendered by them? Clearly, there’s demand for such things and customers are there for the businesses and probably smart and secret capitalists already make tonnes of money out of them.
Women safety, is not very good in our country too. Could there be any linear relationship between women safety and opening of adult recreation centres(let’s call them that)?
I thought so too that these two are directly proportional, until I saw that post surprisingly in opindia, thankfully, I didn’t see the source until I finish the full article, which gave me an another perspective.
Legalising Prostitution/Porn as a business doesn’t have a linear relationship with women safety. Because, rapes happen in western countries where adult recreation centres are legal businesses, too, and have reported more than that in India. But does it mean India is as safe as any western country for a woman?
Men rape as a sign of their masculinity and power and not due to lack of sex. There it is. Rapes cannot be stopped by legalised adult recreational centres.
But, I still advocate for the opening of such recreational centres, because at least the consumers can consume it legally (just the normal stuff with mutual consent made by people over 18). Come on, we have years old such temples in India. We should make such centres artistic and nothing violent. Censor board like movies can be created for such content and audited.
And for the women safety, it is in the hands of the men. Women safety is directly proportional to the men dignity/honour.
